SPECIAL JOINT FOR THE EXTENSION OF THE LONDON CITY AIRPORT IN U.K.
FPC ITALIA in cooperation with Freyssinet UK is completing the supply of 1300 m of special joint type TXA180 for the extension of London City airport in London.
London City Airport is one of the six main London airports and is located right in the city in the Newham area. It was inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth II in 1987 and was designed to serve the financial district of London. The new airport area includes a taxiway, new parking areas for aircraft and buildings used as terminal.
This project will increase the annual number of passengers from the current 4.5 million to 6.5 million.
The technical office of FPC ITALIA has designed this special joint suitable for bearing aircraft loads during take-off and landing and special joint elements in the connection areas. In particular the joint is able to withstand the vertical load of the aircraft AIRBUS A319 of 345 kN.
The supply is complete of all the ancillary materials for the installation of the joint that is mainly carried out during the night to allow regular air traffic.
