NEW BRIDGE AT INTERSECTION OF PRINCE TURKI BIN ABDUL AZIZ I ROAD WITH KING ABDULLAH ROAD IN SAUDI ARABIA
FPC ITALIA together with Freyssinet
Menard Saudi Arabia supplied all the bearings for the project of the new
bridge at Intersection of Prince Turki bin Abdul Aziz I Road with King
Abdullah Road.
FPC ITALIA scope was the design and manufacturing of FREYSSINET TETRON
CD pot bearings by using improved atmospheric corrosion resistance steel
type S355J0W, as well as the testing of raw materials in independent laboratories
such as Politecnico di Milano, SGS and Cerisie.
Freyssinet Menard Saudi Arabia’s scope was the delivery on site of produced
bearings, the technical assistance during installation and the execution
of post-tensioning works of bridge’s beams.
The bearings have been designed and manufactured according to the requirements
of AASHTO standard. They have a vertical load capacity from a minimum of
10.000kN to a maximum of 64.000kN. Design horizontal force up to 18.000
kN. The biggest bearing reaches 2,30 m diameter and 17.000 kg unit weight.
Our ISOLAB testing laboratory performed load tests and friction tests as
per special ASTM requirements for bearings of such capacity.
Thanks to the synergy between FPC ITALIA and the subsidiary of Freyssinet
in Saudi Arabia, the client, which is Royal Commission for Riyadh City,
verified the Freyssinet’s group capacity for post-tensioning works, structural
bearings, testing capacities and international logistics.
