LNG TANKS PORTO CORSINI (RA), Seismic protection system
During the month of February 2019, FPC Italia
signed an agreement with PARESA (www.paresa.it),
international leader for the construction of tank farms, for the supply
of seismic protection devices to be installed among the pillars and the
upper structures of two liquefied natural gas tanks of 10.000 mc capacity
each, located in the industrial area of Porto Corsini in Ravenna, first
coast liquefied natural gas storage (LNG).
The warehouse will be performed by Newco Depositi Italiani GNL (51% Petrolifera
Italo Rumena and 49% Edison) and become operative in 2021 with an annual
handling capability of more than one million cubic meters.

The activity of FPC Italia consists of the production of 182 sliding pendulum
isolators type PS with double surface, manufactured with high performance
sliding materials, suitable for the high wear resistance and to huge temperatures.
The design has been carried out by FPC Italia Technical dept., together
with the Contractor designers, in order to study the better solution to
grant a seismic protection for this kind of structures.
This is the first project in Italy for seismic protection of tanks with
these properties. The isolators, CE marked, are tested at ISOLAB®
laboratory, according to Italian norms NTC2018.
The installation is scheduled within early 2020.
