Bridge over the Po in Mantova

In the first months of 2022, the launching operations of the new double arch bridge over the Po, in the Province of Mantua, were completed.
The first phase saw the bridge in a temporary position after the horizontal translation and advancement operations of the second deck of 149 meters and weighing 2200 tons.


The large corten steel arches, respectively 30 and 35 meters high (like a twelve-storey building) with a total weight of 5000 tons and a length of 329 meters, connect the two banks of the river.
The operations made it possible to move the second deck from the yard of the Bagnolo San Vito site, where it was built, on the devices, partly provisional and partly definitive, arranged on the piers in the center and on the left bank of the river.
FPC Italia was part of this impressive project by acquiring the design, production and supply of the following devices:
ISOSISM PENDULUM ISOLATORS
n. 4 PS 14199.240 (seismic displacement ± 120mm and vertical load up to 23MN)
n. 2 PS 22609.200 (seismic displacement ± 100mm and vertical load up to 38MN)
SHEAR KEYS WITH CONTROLLED BREAKAGE FUSES IN THE EVENT OF EARTHQUAKE
n. 1 SK 1400.300 (longitudinal displacement ± 150mm and horizontal transverse load up to 1400kN)
n. 1 SK 1900.300 (longitudinal displacement ± 150mm and horizontal transverse load up to 1900kN)
n. 1 SK 5400.300 (longitudinal displacement ± 150mm and horizontal transverse load up to 5400kN)
All devices have been tested with excellent results:
- ITT tests on pendulums in EUCENTRE
- FPCT tests on pendulums and ITT tests on fuses in ISOLAB
